This group contains the first part, with the first five Continuations, as well as the ninth Continuation of these important annual accounts of the Salzburger settlements in Georgia, commonly known as "the Salzburger Tracts." These settlements began when a group of German settlers from Salzburg, fleeing religious persecution at home, accepted the invitation of General James Oglethorpe, the founder of Georgia, to settle there in 1734. By 1741 some twelve hundred Salzburgers were living in Georgia, and these volumes are both a history and a promotional work for further settlement.
