CRAM, George F.
New Sectional Map of the State of Missouri Engraved from Official Draughts of Each County
Chicago: Ceorge F. Cram, 1876. Colored engraved folding map, 29½ x 39 inches. Folding into original 16mo. cloth covers, stamped in gilt and blind. A bit of light staining in the upper portion. An attractive copy, vibrantly colored.
A very attractive Missouri pocket map, beautifully printed and colored by county. Railroad lines are a special feature of the map, and their profusion throughout the state is highlighted. The map is copyrighted 1872, but is dated 1876 in the cartouche. Cram began issuing this Missouri pocket map in 1869, and it was quite popular, appearing in new, updated editions in 1870, 1871, and 1873. County-by-county census results are printed on the front pastedown of the cover, showing Missouri's total population at more than 1.7 million. This edition is not in Rumsey or in Karrow, and Phillips Maps lists only the 1873 edition. There are only two copies of this 1876 edition listed in OCLC, at Cornell and the Kansas State Historical Society.
