An important compilation of early English colonial laws of New York, published by the royal printer John Baskett.
As with other Baskett editions of colonial laws, this is an elegantly printed volume, and is quite scarce having been published largely for official use. The work comprises all the acts of the New York Assembly from 1691 through 1718, including many laws concerning slaves within the colony. The full text of the laws in force are provided, with the titles only of those laws which had expired or had been repealed. "Probably copied from Bradford's edition [of the same year] ... and, according to Trott, was printed by order of the Lords Commissioners of Trade and Plantations" (Rich 1:26).
