This copy belonged to Macon's son-in-law, Charles H. Paulson. "Revealing for glimpses of civilian life in the Shenandoah Valley, especially around the Winchester area" Nevins II, 196. Emma Macon's Civil War experiences make up the first half of this work. In the second section, Reuben Macon writes about his service in the Confederate Army as he rose to adjutant in the 13th Virginia Infantry, under Stonewall Jackson.
