Rare separately-issued extract from the Proceedings of the California Academy of Sciences.

"The present paper upon the birds of the peninsula of Baja (Lower) California, Mexico, originally written as a report upon a collection made by the writer in the vicinity of Magdalena Bay in 1888, and withheld from publication in order to include the results of his contemplated field work of 1889, covering a much greater extent of territory, has, through the aid of Mr. L. Belding and Mr. A. W. Anthony, been enlarged to embrace the known avi-fauna or the entire peninsula and adjacent islands" (p. 1). This copy inscribed and annotated by Belding, a noted authority on the avifauna of the region who contributed to the catalogue. The author served as the curator of the California Academy of Sciences and made several expeditions to the Baja Peninsula. Scarce, with but three copies located in OCLC.
