ROSSITER, E. K.; and F. A. WRIGHT
Modern House Painting containing Twenty Colored Lithographic Plates, Exhibiting the Use of Color in Exterior and Interior House Painting
New York: William T. Comstock, 1882. Oblong quarto. 20 chormolithographic plates. 12pp. ads in the rear.
Publisher's green cloth, covers blocked in blind, upper cover titled in gilt, patterned endpapers.
Rare first edition.
The plates record fashionable house painting color schemes of the 1870s and 1880s, with bold juxtapositions of reds, greens, oranges, yellows, blues and browns on both the exterior and interior surfaces. The first edition is quite rare, with the second edition of 1883 more usually encountered. This example in lovely original condition.
