First published in 1769 "as a fragment", Pennant's preface, dated March 1791, details its bibliographic history. To this edition have been added a 100-page Indian Faunula by J. Latham and H. Davies, and on pp. 1-27 a translation of J. R. Forster's Essay on India: its Boundaries, Climate, etc. The lovely title vignette depicts Dory Harbour in New Guinea with a large bird of paradise.
