Nearly 80 years after its first publication, this abridged edition of the Principia celebrated Newtonian scientific theory at the height of the Enlightenment. "Although there is no mention of it in the book itself, the annotators were John Jebb, M.D., Rector of Ovington, Robert Thorp ... and Francis Wollaston" (Babson). Thorp would go on to publish an English translation of Book I of the Principia in 1777. The engraved plates of this edition depict 90 diagrams.
