Robert Green "Bob" Ingersoll was born in Dresden, New York, and spent his life as a writer, lawyer, politician, and speaker. He was a great orator and known as "The Great Agnostic." His friend Walt Whitman considered him the greatest orator of his time. Ingersoll gave the eulogy at Whitman's funeral.
