Ida Shepard Oldroyd was an American conchologist and a curator in the Department of Geology at the Stanford University Museum for over 20 years, overseeing one of the largest collections of mollusk shells in the world at that time. Collecting along with her husband, she also amassed one of the largest private shell collections in California, sourcing shells from California to Washington. Oldroyd was recognized as an authority and early pioneer of conchology in the United States and is known for this four-volume series, one of her major works. She was also a member of the American Malacological Union and served as its vice president in 1934 and honorary president from 1935 to 1940.
